erences on fine arts and architecture, and some three-dimensional pictures, for

of picture books on birds and animals to the Egyptian National Library and Archives
and King Fouad I University (presently Cairo University); now they were included in
the central library of the university.

In addition, PrinceYoussef Kamal had many situations which disclose unmistakable
humility and indisputable patriotism. This is clearly evidenced by the path of the traveler
explorer, Prince Youssef Kamal (1969-1882), the reviver of the fine art renaissance in
modern Egypt. He voluntarily renounced the title of the emirate in 1932; he replaced
the signs distributed on the borders and entrances of his huge property on which was
written «the domain of Prince Youssef Kamal» with other signs on which was written
«the domain of Yossufiyah». He insisted on his renouncement of the emirate, despite
the refusal of the legal court to this renouncement.

Contemplating his respectable path, the greatness of this prince is evidenced when
he signed in hotel registries where he stayed in all his travels. He wrote only his name
with no titles, Youssef Kamal, and then in the field of career he followed it by writing:
«Egyptian farmer».

Patronage of Arts:

Despite Youssef Kamal was the most passionate son of Muhammad Ali’s family
about arts and the patronage of them, he was not the only son of this family in this
field. Differently, most of them shared him the interest of arts, competing for owning
its marvels, keening to keep abreast of the latest developments, opening the most
important shows held then on the land of Egypt, and supporting, encouraging and
patronizing the artists as well.

That is evident in many events recorded An excerpt of what was published by several
