بدأ الفنان سلسلة «أعمال الكتابة» بكتابة نصوص على الملصقات،2010 «مستر دوستي» الذي ألفه الفنان في
السلسلة بوتدحائوًلما إتلىعلبوارناوتدخهوذله،عسباارحةا«تيحالتماعاجرالرعض داخل الإعلاني�ة الخارجية ثم اتجه إلى رسمها على الحائط

.وهذا هو العرض الأول لهذه السلسلة الجديدة
“Writing Jobs” is a series of paintings of phrases in large format made on walls in a specific
context, accompanied by various details taken from the album covers of heavy metal groups
from the 1980s and 1990s, and pop artists of the 1960s and 1970s. The phrases of “Writing
Jobs” are taken from the book of stories “Mr. Dosti” (Fani Zguro, 2010). “Writing Jobs” be-
gan with texts made outdoors on advertising posters, and then shifted towards wall drawings
inside exhibition spaces. For this new series of “Writing Jobs” the phrases are transferred
into the wall paintings (horror always needs color, and insertion in a context) specifically
designed for the exhibition space and the Cairo Biennial. This is the first showing of this new
series.

We went to interview Ugo La Pietra, the historic Italian artist, in his studio in Milan. The Cairo Binnale 13th 2019
main idea of the interview was to talk about his publishing projects of the 1970s and the
way he almost vanished from the scene in that period. But the interview gradually shifted
into an unpredictable discussion, escaping from the original plan. La Pietra directed the
reasoning towards critical observations on the problematic issues of the present, such as glo-
balization, passing fashions, superficial consumerism. “Tuesday 4 December 2018 h 16.30
Studio Ugo La Pietra Milan” consists of an interview lasting about 15 minutes, where the
Italian artist explains the philosophy that has developed across his entire career. Absolutely
true to himself, La Pietra has never engaged in banal compromise.
Avoiding all stereotypes, he has been a pioneer of research-based art, always ready to say
no to timid choice and mediocre proposals.
