Charm of the Place and the Charm of Art

Although the orientalist currents related to many debates,
which raised about its political and cultural backgrounds and
the subsequent explanation of its various dimensions and axes.
Some viewed them with a cultural and respectful view, and
some viewed them with colonialist mentalities. Those currents
are what paved the way for the colonial movements in the East.
Despite this debate, these currents reflected a clear historical
fact, which is the interest of the West in eastern societies since
ancient times and the strong desire to transfer their behavior,
heritage and aspects of life.

Far from those opinions and analyzes that followed these
currents, all points of view were gone; the history of artworks
remained in which the charm of the East mixed with the charm
of art.

The charm of the place is represented by the picturesque nature
that characterized the East in general and Egypt in particular.
This nature affected all western artists and influenced them;
they began to transfer them with all their tools, expertise and
rich artistic methods. This was similar to the successful creative
equation that completed its elements represented in the beauty
of nature and the beauty of art.

Today, we stand before a collection of valuable artworks that
monitored the charm of the East in general and ancient Egypt
in particular through this artistic show “Memory of the East”,
which is an extension of the series of exhibitions “Treasures of
Our Art Museums” that have been linked to the Center of Arts
“Aisha Fahmy Palace” since its reopening until now.
