The name of the late artist Ahmed Fouad Selim will remain a notable milestone
in the history of the contemporary Egyptian fine art movement. With the multiple
and important aspects of his exceptional personality, we are wondering from where
we shall start to present such a great figure. His career is full of many creative and
administrative achievements, as well as his contributions to the critical movement, a
true picture of a noble creator who never stopped giving to his art, his students, and
his audience. Perhaps the most important characteristic of the late great artist Selim
is his artistic insight and his belief in his message to which he dedicated his life and
thought, leaving a heritage that will remain a timeless mark witnessing his genius.
He offered us an honorable record in various artistic, academic, administrative,
research and critical disciplines. Another important aspect of this wonderful artist's
personality is his faith in the role of youth in the creation of the future. He offered
them a respectful opportunity to show their talents and introduce themselves through
the Center of Arts' halls that witness to the important role he played to introduce new
artists and proven talents achieved by giving them opportunities to exhibit side by
side with great artists. Nowadays, they have become among the big names, enriching
the Egyptian and Arab fine art movement. I cannot forget his role as an extraordinary
administrator. He is one of the most prominent officials, who held a position at the
Fine Arts sector; he assumed that administrative responsibility out of his interest as an
artist. He achieved big dreams for artists, including great artistic and cultural edifices,
as the Center of Arts in Zamalek and the Museum of Egyptian Modern Art. Furthermore,
he established important art events, certainly the foremost of which is the Cairo
International Biennale. In one of the edifices, whose walls will remember his name
and his biography, the Center of Arts (Aisha Fahmy Palace), we commemorate the
tenth death anniversary of the great artist. With the thought and management of Selim,
the Center of Arts attests to the birth of real artists and the momentum. It was the most
important venues of art and creativity in Egypt that exhibiting there was a certificate
to enter the circle of fine arts from the great gateway. Today, we are brought together
by the love for and loyalty to the great artist among his extraordinary paintings and
at the heart of his highly special, rich and distinguished creative experience. It is an
opportunity to enjoy his paintings, as well as an opportunity for the new generations
to learn about the value of this artist and his creative career. In the presence of the
art, the fragrant memory and the honorable history of such an artist, we cannot help
but renew our message of loyalty, appreciation and love for the late artist whose body
