Any painter when plunging red beside white beside yellow besides other different colors on the condition that this painter has eventually thrown his kneader after consuming it completely and there is no other place in it for another paste. -There is other paintings that are objects fixed with glue like complicated wires, broken shells, torn papers, broken and spotted wooden window, sleazy riddle with small pieces of paper with its number on it fixed to all these works. No one can question the ability of artist Kanaan, since he did not resort to these new things for a defect, but because he wants so. And I liked that he wants, so he does what he wants. But to my grieve, no one understood what he wanted, and no one could get into his world which he has created for himself. Salah Jaheen Sabah El Kher Thursday 10th of March 1960 - Mounir kanaan, who is famous for his abstraction, has deep roots in Diagnostic Art; firstly due to his work as a Photographer since 1940 at well known Magazines issued be Al Helal and Al Akhbar Institutions, and secondly as he practiced this style for ten years of his artistic career. - From the beginning, he got into attempts of deleting the topics and novel from his works; from this prospective he was able to create his own style, and to propose Fine issues that are similar to the issues proposed by Asper Johns Rauschenberg in the world of Fine Art in USA at the same time. According to this view, material and working on it became the basic element of artistic performance, and sufficient to create beauty and motivate artistic emotions. From 1960 till 1964 he came out with a number of oil paintings on fabric entitled `wall`. -Yet, kanaan still needs movement in his artistic world, the element upon which he rests in `rhythms` which is another collection of oil paintings on fabric, and also in his works of collage which was the dominant trend in his works since the end of 1960`s. - Though Monir Kanaan borrowed this technique from his school of visuals, he mastered it completely in a number of collage works in which he uses colored scraps to attract the eye of the viewer to the world of visual imagination. Yet, he could not but to return to `painting`; that is, to use brush and colors directly, but in this return he took with him collage. Since the end of 1970`s he has been through a new experience where he combined between the two styles in an abstractive paintings that he tears; then reinstall in a new formula which turns the painting to a play of reflections and self-signal.
