،إﻟﻲ ھذا اﻟﺣد أﻋﻣﺎﻟﮫ ﺷدﯾدة اﻟﺣداﺛﺔ . " ﻟﻘد ﺻﻌﻘت ﻣن أول وھﻠﮫ ﻟﻠﺗﺟﺎﻧس و اﻟﺗﺣﻛم ﻓﻲ أﻋﻣﺎل ﺳﻠﯾ م- اﻟﻛﺑرى اﻟذھﺑﯾﺔ
و ﻟﻛن ﻓ ﻲ ﺣﺎﻟﺔ أﻋﻣﺎل،و طﺑﻌﺎ ھﻧﺎك أﺣﯾﺎﻧﺎ ﻟوﺣﺎت ﻟﻔﻧﺎﻧﯾن ﺗراھﺎ ﻣﺑﮭره ﺛم ﺗﻔﻘد ﺳﺑب اﺑﮭﺎرھﺎ ﺑﻌد وﻗ ت .وﺷدﯾدة اﻟﺗﻔر د
أﺣﻣد ﻓؤاد ﺳﻠﯾم ﻛﻧت أذھب و أﺟﻲء ﺛﻼﺛﺔ أﯾﺎم ﻛﺎﻣﻠﺔ و ﻟﻌدة زﯾﺎرات ﻛﻧت أﻛﺗﺷف أﻛﺛر وأﻛﺛر أﺛﻧﺎء اﻟﺗﻣﺣﯾص أن اﺑﮭﺎرھﺎ
: و اﺗﺿﺢ ﻟﻧﺎ أن أﻋﻣﺎل ﺳﻠﯾم ﻣؤﺛرة و ذات ﻗﯾﻣﺔ و ان اﺑﮭﺎ ر اﻟوھﻠﺔ اﻷوﻟﻲ ﻛﺎن ﻓﻲ ﻣﻛﺎﻧﮫ"ﻣﺛ ًﻼ،ﯾزﯾد و ﯾزﯾ د

ﻓﺗﺟرﯾده ﯾﻛﺎد ﯾﻛون ﺟ ًزءا ﻣن اﻟطﺑﯾﻌﺔ اﻟﺗﻲ ﺗﻌﯾش ﺑﯾﻧﻧﺎ،وﻟﻛﻧﮭﺎ ﺗﻣﺗﺎز ﺑﺧﺎﺻﯾﺔ ﻣوﺣﯾﺔ،وﺟدت أن أﻋﻣﺎل ﺳﻠﯾم ھﻲ ﺗﺟرﯾد
ٕاﻧﻧﻲ أﻗر أن ھذا اﻟﻔﻧﺎن ﯾﺣﻣل ﻗﯾﻣﺔ ﻋﺎﻟﻣﯾﺔ.وأﻋﻣﺎﻟﮫ ھذه ﺗﺑدو داﺋامً ﺷﺎﻋرﯾﺔ،ﻣﻊ أﻧﮫ ﻻ ﺷﻲء ھﻧﺎك ﻟﮫ ﻋﻼﻗﺔ ﺑﺎﻟطﺑﯾﻌﺔ
.ﻓﻘد ﻋرف ﻛﯾف ﯾﻌﺎﻟﺞ ﻓﻲ ﻋﻣﻠﮫ اﻟﻔﻧﻲ ﺗراث ﺑﻠده ﺑﺣرﯾﺔ ﻛﺎﻣﻠﺔ

A well-known Spanish critic, theorist, and professor of history and philosophy of art, during
the press conference held on Friday, December 16th, 1988 to announce the Third Cairo
International Biennale's awards (according to the tape)
-Justifying the nomination of Selim for the Golden Grand Prize-
"At first glance, I was stunned by the sense of harmony and control in Selim's artworks;
they are ultramodern and extremely extraordinary. Indeed, you sometimes find other art-
ists' paintings impressive, then, after a time, they lose their impressiveness. However, for
Ahmed Fouad Selim's artworks, I went back and forth for three full days and for many
visits. Looking closely at them, I have found that their impressiveness has increased more
and more. His artworks are impressive and valuable. The impression of the first glance
was right."
For example:
•The technique indicates his high skill.
• The composition is perfectly balanced.
• High sensitivity to the color range.
• His control of the line, which has a great importance for him, in the space.
Selim’s artworks are an abstraction; however, they have suggestive characteristic. His
abstraction is almost a part of our surrounding nature even though there is nothing related
to nature. These artworks look always poetic.
I believe that this artist has a global value; he knew how to address in his artwork his
country’s heritage with complete freedom."
