Essays

- Real artist does not die as his works continue living forever, and audience increase according to the humanitarian value in his works.
- The `hero` in Al Tamboly`s works is always man… He did not seek the idea of being unique, as he did not use expatriation or abstraction, for he was so fanatic for mankind, sticking to hard work; thus he became unique without seeking this.

- His favorite topic is man in fishing, collecting grapes, carrying luggage, and his permanent attempts to subdue nature for serving him.

- A Giant sea….This is the artist and archaeologist Lotfy El Tamboly. He is a giant on both levels humanitarian and professional, and he is like a sea in his giving. He is a man of calm smile, honest in saying and expression, his name was mentioned with great admiration and appreciation in both French and Egyptian Newspapers in 1947, and his name continued to glow in fields of painting and Egyptian archaeology till he became a part of Egypt`s history and heritage.
- In 1947 Lotfy Al Tamboly participated with 12 paintings in the 31st Salon of Post Authority in Paris. These paintings represented the largest collection displayed for one artist, and hence, he won the top position among foreign exhibitors.
- He was famous for his permanent persistency on realistic style to express real life which he clearly and simply lives. This simplicity reveals clarity and purity of his soul; he always tries to reach the core, since from the beginning of his artistic journey, he is only interested in man with all the worlds within him, and what he has accomplished.
-Lotfy Al Tamboly believed in hard work regardless his artistic trend, but he did not like platitude, and did not approve on those consuming formations that are repeated to come up with new things. According to him new things in art is reality in which artist lives, this reality that differs from the past and even from future. Hence it was not strange to find his values and humane concepts reflected on his artistic style since simplicity of expression and clarity of vision constitute his principle; simplicity and clarity that are seen in his paintings, and reveal the purity and serenity of his soul. The real standard of beauty -according to him- is truthfulness of the work of art which holds a dialogue between the work and its audience; that is why his paintings are distinguished for truthfulness and serenity that shake the depth in silence. This may be due to his studies of Ancient Egyptian Art which he expressed according to the concepts of this age.
-His life career cannot be divided into phases, in the common sense of the word, as it does not include sudden leaps or radical changes in the style and visions according to inclinations. But his works represent a whole ascending line that continues developing towards creativity. His works can be divided according to its topics which comes as an outcome of the areas he has been in and the people living there. Living in new areas inspired him to originate a new topic.
-When he worked on the project of saving Nubian Monuments, this did not eliminate him from painting and colors; as mountains and extended deserts did not concern him and he plunged into depicting Nubians with their simplicity, timidity, spontaneity in serene and vivid way.
